INTERcCOM: Intercultural communication in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion

CommArt International plc is in the partnership of the Interreg-project INTERcCOM (Intercultural communication in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion).

In the Meuse-Rhine Euregion, 3 European languages used as local languages and 5 cultures are confronted. Besides, the EMR also owns foreigners cultures, which will even rise with the future intake of Turkish, Moroccan and Polish people.

This linguistic and cultural diversity of the EMR can be a real asset, certainly at the economic level, but it can also lead to problems: people often struggle with particular aspects of German, French or Dutch, which can lead to miscommunication.

Moreover, numerous misunderstandings due to cultural differences create negative stereotypes, which slow down the business cooperation between the regions.

The INTERcCOM project therefore aims to improve mutual communication in order to simplify the studying and the working in the EMR. This aim is achieved through a scientific research on two fields, namely language and culture.

Based on the research results, 5 e-learning modules “language and culture” will then be developed through the help of the multimedia authoring tools Lingu@Tor Author.
